Kiki Vandeweghe is a retired American professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association and is a son of a former NBA player Ernie Vandeweghe. He was born in Wiesbaden, West Germany. Vandeweghe played as forward for several teams in the National Basketball Association; the Denver Nuggets, Portland Trail Blazers, New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Clippers. He took his college education at University of California in Los Angeles where he was notable for playing college basketball.

 

He was listed at 6 ft. 8 in. and 220 lbs. Vandeweghe began his professional career in basketball after he was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1980 NBA draft. He was the first round pick of the team during the draft. However, Vandeweghe refused to play with the Mavericks and demanded a trade instead. He was then dealt to the Denver Nuggets on December 3 of that same year. During his career with the Nuggets, Vandeweghe was selected twice to play in All-Star team of the Western Conference in the NBA. During the 1984 seasons, Vandeweghe was dealt to Calvin Natt, Wayne Cooper, and Fat Lever of the Portland Trail Blazers. After the trade, Vandeweghe had several dynamic seasons with the Trail Blazers, where he almost had an average of 25 points per game. In 1988, he joined the New York Knicks after being traded following a back injury. Vandeweghe spent his last season with the Clippers in 1993.

Kiki Vandeweghe (full name: Ernest Maurice Vandeweghe III; Kiki) played Forward from 1981 until 1993 for the Denver Nuggets, Portland Trail Blazers, New York Knickerbockers and Los Angeles Clippers. Over 13 seasons, he played 810 games, scored 15980 points (19.7 ppg) and grabbed 2785 rebounds (3.4 rpg). Vandeweghe also dished out 1668 assists (2.1 apg), made 468 steals (0.6 spg), and blocked 243 shots (0.3 bpg) during his career. Born in Wiesbaden, Germany on August 1, 1958, Vandeweghe stands 6-8 and weighs 220 lbs. He attended high school at Pacific Palisades in Pacific Palisades, California and college at University of California, Los Angeles. He was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1st round (11th pick, 11th overall) of the 1980 NBA draft.
