Born in Trochu, Alberta, Kevin Haller is a former ice hockey player and became active in the National Hockey League from 1990 to 2002. He was a defenseman for a number of teams including the Montreal Canadiens, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and the New York Islanders. He was able to take part in a total of 642 games before his retirement at the age of 32.
He was playing in the Western Hockey League for the Regina Pats before he entered the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. During this draft, he was selected by the Buffalo Sabres making him a first round pick. He was able to appear right away in the NHL for the Buffalo Sabres. However, the Sabres failed to get to the playoffs for the 1989 season and he was assigned to play for the Rochester Americans in the AHL. He was called again to the Sabres in 1990 and Haller played in 21 games for that season. The Sabres went to the playoffs that season and Haller was able to appear in six games, made a goal and scored 5 points.
Haller signed with the Montreal Canadiens and played in the 1992 season where he was able to score a total of 25 points and made it to the playoffs with seven points. The Canadiens won the 1993 Stanley Cup.

He was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1st round (14th overall) of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft.
