Hailing from Bessemer, Alabama, Kerry Rhodes is a professional football player who is currently seen in the National Football League. Sources say he started showing keen interest in the sport when he was just nine years of age and pursued his football career at Jess Lanier High School where he served as a starting quarterback. In college, he played at University of Louisville this time as the team’s safety. The move from being a quarterback to being part of the defense was a successful one since he managed to be one of the best defensive players of the team. He wrapped up his stellar college career with 167 tackles and a sack for 12 yards, with 11 interceptions and 106 returned yards.

 

His National Football League career began in 2005 when he was chosen by the New York Jets to be part of their team after the National Football League Draft in that year. In his first season in the league, he logged 16 games played and made 108 tackles.

 

Playing as a safety, reviews say he had his breakthrough year in 2006 when he did a huge contribution for the Jets to win in a game against Buffalo Bills. For his remarkable defense against J.P. Losman of the Bills which led his team to a 28-20 win, he was named as the Defensive Player of the Week in AFC. He was not included in that year’s All Pro though, but he was named as one by the Associated Press and the Sports Illustrated magazine. After his celebrated career with the Jets, he played for the Arizona Cardinals which he signed on March 6, 2010.
