Kazuhisa Ishii was born on September 9, 1973 in Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. He is a professional baseball player who previously appeared for a few teams in the Major League Baseball. His professional career started after being drafted by the Yakult Swallows in the 1991 Japanese amateur draft. His first game in the Central League was on June 9, 1992 and became a member of the Japan Series that won the championship that season. He spent ten years as a professional baseball player in Japan and posted a record of 8-46 with 1,277 strikeouts with 3.38 earned run average.
In 2002, he signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers of the Major League Baseball and had his debut in the league on April 6, 2002. He was awarded as the National League Rookie of the Month for the month of April in the 2002 season. He obtained an injury on September 2008 and was not able to pitch for the rest of the season. According to reviews, he established a more impressive image as a pitcher in the 2003 and 2004 seasons. He was traded to the New York Mets in 2005 and was released by the team after recording a 3-9 win-loss ratio.
Currently, Ishii plays in the Japanese Pacific League team Saitama Seibu Lions.
