Kason Gabbard is a left-handed, professional baseball player. He is currently playing as a starting pitcher for the Boston Red Sox organization. He was picked by the Red Sox during the 2000 MLB Draft. Gabbard went to Royal Beach High School and baseball together with Jarrod Saltalamacchia.
Gabbard went on to play for Portland, the Boston Red Sox affiliate in the Double-A. He had a 9-2 record and an ERA of 2.57 after starting 13 games for Portland. His pitching allowed him to move to the Triple-A and play for Pawtucket. Gabbard was called up to the Boston Red Sox in July 22 after Tim Wakefield was placed in the injured list. He was able to register his first MLB win against the Chicago White Sox
In 2007, he was called up briefly to pitch for a May game against Atlanta. He only allowed two runs on 6 hits and pitched for a total of 5 innings. The Red Sox won that game but he was optioned back to Pawtucket right after. Gabbard was traded to the Texas Rangers in 2007. He was able to make his Rangers debut in a game against the Cleveland Indians where the Rangers lost. However, in a game against the Baltimore Orioles, Gabbard was credited with the win.
