Karrie Ann Webb AM is an Australian female golfer, considered to be her country’s greatest and to be one of the top players in the history of women’s golf. She was born on December 21, 1974 in Queensland, Australia and currently resides in Boynton Beach, Florida, USA.
She started her professional career in 1994 and in the same year won the Australian Strokeplay Champion. She joined the Ladies European Tour, finishing as 2nd place in the Women’s Australian Open also in 1994. In 1995, she won the European Rookie of the Year Award. Webb won her first LPGA Tour title in 1996 and bagged the LPGA Rookie of the Year Award. She is also the first LPGA player to win $1 million mark in a single season. Webb continued to collect wins and in 2000, she teamed up with fellow Australian female golfer Rachel Hetherington to win the Women’s World Cup in Malaysia. She defended her US Women’s Open title successfully in 2001 and became the youngest player to win the LPGA Career Grand Slam. She was also able to compete against Tiger Woods and Annika Sörenstam in the Battle at Bighorn. Her partner for the said game was David Duval. Currently, Webb has 50 professional wins. Her 36 LPGA Tour win made her the 12th player with the most career LPGA tournament wins. Webb was awarded with being a Member of the Order of Australia in January 2010 because of her services to golf.
