Jumbo Brown (full name: Walter George Brown; no nicknames) played pitcher from 1932 until 1941 for the New York Yankees, New York Giants and Cincinnati Reds. He played for the Yankees from 1932 - 1936, Giants from 1937 - 1941 and Reds in 1937. Over 12 seasons, he started 23 games, won 33 games, struck out 301 batters, and had a 4.07 ERA. Born on April 30, 1907 in Greene, RI (All Transactions), Brown stood 6' 4" and weighed 295 lb. He attended high school. His debut was on August 26, 1925 and he played his final game on August 27, 1941. Common misspellings of his name include Walter George Jumbo Brown.
