Joshua Matthew Rupe is a professional baseball player in the Major League Baseball who plays for the Kansas City Royals. He hails from Portsmouth, Virginia and was born on August 18, 1982. He throws and bats right- handed and attended Greenbar Christian Academy as a high school student.
Rupe turned professional when he was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 3rd round of the 2002 MLB amateur draft. He then signed with the White Sox on June 14, 2002. In July 2003, he was traded off to the Texas Rangers for Carl Everett. He made his first appearance in a MLB game on September 16, 2005 in a win against the Seattle Mariners. During the early part of the 2006 season, he suffered from an inflamed left elbow and was placed on a 60- day disabled list. He spent his rehabilitation time with the Triple- A Oklahoma RedHawks and was called back to the Rangers to play in a game against the Kansas City Royals. Upon entering free agency in 2009, he signed with the Kansas City Royals and was designated for assignment in 2010. Currently, he records a 4.95 earned run average and 75 strikeouts.
