Jose Reyes is a Major League Baseball player of Dominican descent and was born on June 11, 1983. He started his celebrated professional baseball career when he signed with the New York Mets and was assigned to the Appalachian League team Kingsport Mets. He spent a number of seasons in the minor leagues and played for the St. Lucie Mets of the Florida State League and also for the Binghamton which is an AA team.
He finally made his debut in the Major League Baseball on June 10, 2003 where he made a very good impression and continued to do so in the next games over the week. His rookie year was marked by a batting average of .307 and 32 runs batted in. He bagged the Rookie of the Year award in the 2003 season. From his first year in MLB in 2003 until this season, he has gathered many awards which include being a three-time All-Star choice and the Silver Slugger Award in the 2006 season. He was also named as the Player of the Week for two times in June 18 and June 25. He recorded a hit-in-a-cycle a few times.
Aside from MLB, he also played for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic.
