Jose Guillen is the Dominican Republican’s export to the Major League Baseball. He has played for a number of teams already. Currently, he is with the Kansas City Royals. In 1993, Guillen was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates and played in the minors until he was able to make hi MLB debut appearance in 1993.
Guillen was traded to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays together with Jeff Sparks in exchange for Joe Oliver and Humberto Cota. He sustained a number of injuries and was released in 2001. Shortly after, the Arizona Diamondbacks decided to sign Guillen and appeared with the team for a total of 54 games. He was then released by the end of that season.
After being signed by the Colorado Rockies and the Oakland Athletics for very short periods of time, Guillen signed with the Oakland Athletics in 2003. With Oakland, he was able to hit 30 homers in the 2003 season. He later signed with the Anaheim Angels in 2004 but was traded to the Washington Nationals where he became a valuable player.
In 2007, he decided to sign with the Seattle Mariners and helped the team to the playoff. By December of that year, Guillen signed with the Kansas City Royals and has played for the team since then.
