 Jonathan Robert Papelbon is a professional baseball player appearing in the Major League Baseball. Hailing from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he played high school baseball in Bishop Kenny High School in Florida and was named to the All-City honors for his noteworthy performances in the field. He continued his baseball career in Mississippi State University where he served as a closer and spent three years as part of the Mississippi State Bulldogs. In that university, he was able to record 9-6 win-loss ratio and 13 saves. During the summer of his first year in the university, he appeared in a Silver Spring team. After his remarkable stint in college, he started playing professionally for the minor league teams Sarasota Red Sox and Class-A Lowell Spinners. Pappelbon also played for the Portland Sea Dogs which is a Double A team and likewise for the Pawtucket Red Sox.

He proceeded to play in the major league after his minor league stay and was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 40th round of the 2003 Major League Baseball amateur draft. However, his debut game in the majors was with the Boston Red Sox. He played for the first time in the Major League Baseball on July 31, 2005. According to sources, he had an awesome 2006 seasons in terms of reliefs when he made 35 saves and a batting of .167. Although marked by many as a slow player, reviews say his fastball is one of his advantage.
