Johnny Wyrostek (full name: John Barney Wyrostek; no nicknames) played outfielder from 1942 until 1954 for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies and Cincinnati Reds. He played for the Pirates from 1942 - 1943, Phillies from 1946 - 1954 and Reds from 1948 - 1952. Over 11 seasons, he played 1221 games, hit 58 home runs, drove in 525 runs, and stole 33 bases. Born on July 12, 1919 in Fairmont City, IL, Wyrostek stood 6' 2" and weighed 180 lb. He attended Central (East St. Louis, IL) high school. His debut was on September 10, 1942 and he played his final game on September 26, 1954.
