Johnny Vander Meer is a former American baseball player in the Major League Baseball. He was born in Prospect Park, New Jersey. Vander Meer played as pitcher for a few teams in the major league; the Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians. Vander Meer attended his high school studies at Midland Park High in Midland Park, New Jersey. He was listed at 6 ft. 1 in. and 190 lbs. Vander Meer pitched using his left and batted with both of his hand.

He began his professional career in Major League Baseball after signing as amateur free agent with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1933. On December 12, 1935 he was purchased by the Cincinnati Reds and made his professional debut on April 22, 1937. Industry experts say that Vander Meer was the only pitcher in the history of Major League Baseball to pitch no-hitters in two uninterrupted starts. Vander Meer’s final game in the major league was with the Indians on May 7, 1951. After he was released by the Indians, he made a few stints in the Texas League pitching for the team of Tulsa. Johnny Vander Meer passed away at the age of 82 on October 6, 1997 in Tampa, Florida.
