 John Joseph Podres was a former Major League Baseball player who was born on September 30, 1932. He has appeared mostly in the Major League Baseball for the Los Angeles Dodgers and also spent a large part of his professional career with the Brooklyn Dodgers.

According to reviews, he was a rather good player who has played enormous roles for the Dodgers journey to the World Series in the 1955 and 1959 seasons, as well as for the 1963 season. He was the recipient of the very first Most Valuable Player award for his great performance in the World Series participation of the New York Yankees.
