John Williams is a retired American pro basketball athlete who played as power forward for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Phoenix Suns and the Dallas Mavericks in the National Basketball Association. Williams was born on August 9, 1962 in Sorrento, Louisiana and took his college education when he attended The Tulane University of Louisiana where he also played college basketball. Williams had a d a standout career at Tulane, however, it ended in controversy with Williams being arrested on March 1985 because he was suspected foe an alleged match fixing.
Williams’ pro basketball career began after he was drafted out from college by the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 1985 NBA Draft being the second round pick of the team. Before the beginning of that season however, Williams was not able to play due to an on-going trial. Being able to play for the Cavaliers the next year, Williams was named to the NBA all-rookie team for the 1986-87 seasons. Williams' best season came in 1989, when he had an average of seventeen points, eight rebounds and blocks per game. Williams spent nine seasons with Cleveland before he was dealt for Dan Majerle of the Suns.

John Williams (full name: John Sam Williams; Hot Plate, Rock) played Forward-Center from 1987 until 1995 for the Washington Bullets, Los Angeles Clippers and Indiana Pacers. Over 8 seasons, he played 435 games, scored 4406 points (10.1 ppg) and grabbed 2201 rebounds (5.1 rpg). Williams also dished out 1262 assists (2.9 apg), made 566 steals (1.3 spg), and blocked 184 shots (0.4 bpg) during his career. Born in Los Angeles, California on October 26, 1966, Williams stands 6-8 and weighs 235 lbs. He attended high school at Crenshaw in Los Angeles, California and college at Louisiana State University. He was drafted by the Washington Bullets in the 1st round (12th pick, 12th overall) of the 1986 NBA draft.
