John Wehner, nicknamed “Rock,” is a former American professional baseball player. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and took his college education at the Indiana University. Throughout his entire professional baseball career in the Major League Baseball, Wehner played as utility player for two teams; the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Florida Marlins.
Wehner is 6 ft. 3 in. and 205 lbs. He both batted and threw using his right. He started his professional baseball career after he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates of the Major League Baseball during the 1988 amateur draft where he was a seventh round pick of the team and formally signed on June 5, 1988. In 1997 Wehner joined the Florida Marlins as a bench player, staying with the team for two seasons before joining back the Pirates in 1999 and had his final game on July 27, 2001. After hitting the final home run and making the final out in the Three Rivers Stadium history. Throughout his eleven seasons in the majors, Wehner gathered an average batting of .249 with four home runs and fifty four RBIs in 461 games.
