John Mellekas (fullname: John Stavros Mellekas; no nicknames) played Defensive Tackle from 1956 until 1963 for the Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles. He played 84 games, intercepted passes and recovered 5 fumbles. Born in Newport, RI on June 14, 1933, Mellekas stands 6'3 and weighs 255 lbs. He attended college at Arizona. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 4th round (47th overall) of the 1956 NFL Draft.
