Playing as a relief pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies in Major League Baseball is John Wayne Ennis. He debuted in Major League with the Atlanta Braves on April 10, 2002. But he only appeared in one game with the team. In 2004, he was pitching for the Detroit Tigers. On August 26, 2007, he played his first game as a member of the Phillies. He had teammates who were core players such as infielders Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, and Jimmy Rollins and pitcher Cole Hamels. His contract was sold to the Samsung Lions of the Korean Baseball Organization where he pitched for the rest of the 2008 season.
Ennis also signed with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the independent Altanlic League on February 25, 2009 but later signed a minor league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies. After playing his first game of the season, he suffered an elbow injury and was told that he needed a surgery which will cause him to miss the rest of the season.

He attended Monroe (Monroe, CA) high school and was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 14th round of the 1998 amateur draft.
