San Jose Sharks captain and a centre for the team, Joe Thornton is a Canadian player of the National Hockey League. He was first drafted in NHL under the Boston Bruins in 1997 and played for seven seasons.  His first goal was against the Philadelphia Flyers and scored a 3-0 win. He succeeded Jason Allison as team captain who moved to the Los Angeles Kings.  He was then traded to the San Jose Sharks and immediately found chemistry with Jonathan Cheechoo, a winger of the Sharks.  He was also able to compete as a member of the Team Canada where he won three gold medals and one silver medal. He also won the Art Ross Trophy and Hart Memorial Trophy both in 2006. He also got into trouble off the ice after coming to his brother’s side in a bar fight. But later on the case was dropped in exchange for an apology and community service from Joe Thornton.
