Former American football quarterback,
Joe Theismann is currently a television football announcer for ESPN. He was born on September 9, 1949 in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
He was chosen by the
Miami Dolphins during the fourth round of the 1971 National Football League Draft and also in the Major League Baseball’s
Minnesota Twins as a shortstop during that year’s MLB draft. Theismann decided to play with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. He was then able to lead the Argonauts to an amazing 10-4 record and the team was able to win the league’s eastern conference. It was in 1971when Theismann has completed 148 out of 278 passes for 2,440 yards and 17 TDs. When the National Football League’s
Washington Redskins obtained Theisman’s rights in 1974, he was then very eager to make it to the National Football League. He then became the team’s starting quarterback.
Theismann had led the Redskins to win during the Super Bowl XVII and had an appearance in Super Bowl XVII. It was in 1983 when he was hailed as the National Football League’s Most Valuable Player and he was able to play in two Pro Bowl games where he got the player of the game award during the second game. Theismann then worked as a color commentator on ESPN’s Sunday Night Football.
