Jimmie Johnson had never finished below fifth in the final Nextel Cup point standings. Born on September 17, 1975 in El Cajon, California, Johnson had amazingly won the 2006 NASCAR Nextel Cup championship.
Johnson decided to join the American Speed Association (ASA) circuit in the year 1998. He successfully finished fourth during the season and had grabbed the Rookie of the Year honors. It was in 2000 when he became a Busch Series driver who powerfully finished 10th in the point standings and was third in the Rookie of the Year standings. Johnson had won his only Busch Series race in the year 2001. He began racing the Nextel Cup Series in 2002 and had stunned many people when he had won the pole at the Daytona 500. He became a runner-up for the NASCAR Rookie of the Year in 2002.
