Jim Thome is currently playing for the Chicago White Sox. He was born in Peoria, Illinois on August 27, 1970.
Thome was a sport star in baseball and basketball at Limestone High School. Thome then decided to study at Illinois Central College and he also played baseball and basketball at the school. It was in 1989 when he was drafted by the Cleveland Indians during the 13th round of the 1989 Major League Draft. He then played with the team in 1991 as the team’s third baseman. Thome was then traded for
Matt Williams in 1997 and he shifted over to first base. It was in 1995 when he started to come on his own and was able to accomplish 25 home runs and 73 runs batted in with a powerful .314 batting average.
