Jim Russell (full name: James William Russell; no nicknames) played outfielder from 1942 until 1951 for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Boston Braves and Brooklyn Dodgers. He played for the Pirates from 1942 - 1947, Braves from 1948 - 1949 and Dodgers from 1950 - 1951. Over 10 seasons, he played 1035 games, hit 67 home runs, drove in 554 runs, and stole 59 bases. Born on October 1, 1918 in Fayette City, PA (All Transactions), Russell stood 6' 1" and weighed 181 lb. He attended high school. His debut was on September 12, 1942 and he played his final game on October 1, 1951. Common misspellings of his name include James james Jim jimmie jimmy William Russell.
