Jim Panther (full name: James Edward Panther; no nicknames) played pitcher from 1971 until 1973 for the Oakland Athletics, Texas Rangers and Atlanta Braves. He played for the Athletics in 1971, Rangers in 1972 and Braves in 1973. Over 3 seasons, he started 4 games, won 7 games, struck out 56 batters, and had a 5.26 ERA. Born on March 1, 1945 in Burlington, IA, Panther stands 6' 1" and weighs 190 lb. He attended high school and was drafted by the Kansas City Athletics in the 5th round of the 1967 amateur draft (January Secondary). His debut was on April 5, 1971 and he played his final game on August 2, 1973. Over his career, Panther made $9,900. Common misspellings of his name include James Edward james Jim jimmie jimmy Panther.
