Jim Pankovits (full name: James Franklin Pankovits; no nicknames) played pinch hitter, second baseman and outfielder from 1984 until 1990 for the Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox. He played for the Astros from 1984 - 1988 and Red Sox in 1990. Over 6 seasons, he played 318 games, hit 9 home runs, drove in 62 runs, and stole 8 bases. Born on August 6, 1955 in Pennington Gap, VA, Pankovits stands 5' 10" and weighs 170 lb. He attended Freeman (Richmond, VA) high school and was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 4th round of the 1976 amateur draft. His debut was on May 27, 1984 and he played his final game on September 19, 1990. Over his career, Pankovits made $335,000.
