Former Major League Baseball right-handed starting pitcher, Jim Palmer has played his entire career for the Baltimore Orioles. He was born on October 15, 1945 in New York, New York.
Palmer was 17 years of age when he signed a minor league contract. He was then considered as one of the best pitchers in the Baltimore Orioles. Palmer was said to be a mainstay in the rotation during the team’s six pennant winning teams in 1960s and 1980s. He is also the only pitcher to have won in the World Series games in three challenging decades and the Jim Palmer autographed baseball was then made as recognition. It was in 1966 when he joined the starting rotation. He was also the youngest pitcher who had won a complete-game, World Series shutout where he defeated Sandy Koufax and the Dodgers during the Game 2.
Palmer has won 21games in 1972 and had received his first Cy Young Award and the Jim Palmer autographed baseball was made as valuable item. In 1975, he was able to win 23 games where he threw 10 shutouts and accomplished a powerful 2.09 ERA. Palmer then has completed 25 games and won his second Cy Young Award in 1976. He then decided to retire after the 1984 season where he was released by the Baltimore Orioles. In his 19 years of playing baseball, Palmer had accomplished 268-152 record with 2,212 amazing strikeouts, a 2.68 ERA, 521 games started, 211 complete games, and 53 blazing shutouts all in 3.948 innings.
