“Jim” or “Cakes”, born as James Palmer, is a retired professional baseball player who appeared in the Major League Baseball for only one team, the Baltimore Orioles. Hailing from New York, he began playing baseball in a few leagues as a young boy and went to Scottsdale High School. He batted and threw with his right hand and started to appear in the Major League Baseball on April 17, 1965 for his parent team, Baltimore Orioles. He worked as a starting pitcher for the team and according to a number of reviews, he was one of the greatest pitchers in the history of the team. Palmer was part of the team’s win in six pennants and was able to achieve a number of wins for three decades in the World Series. He was also remembered as one of the players who did not give up a grand slam and worked hard in every game he appeared in. Palmer spent 20 years in the Major League Baseball and gathered not just one but three Cy Young Awards and was given the Gold Glove awards four times.

According to statistics, Palmer made 2, 212 strikeouts in his entire major league career and served 2. 86 ERA. He also recorded 3, 948 innings and was able to play 211 complete games.

Because of his tremendous contributions to the Baltimore Orioles, he was named to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1990 and included to the 100 Greatest Baseball Players as the 64th player.
