Major League Baseball center fielder, Jim Edmonds is currently playing for the S. Louis Cardinals. He was born on June 27, 1970 in Fullerton, California.
He was first drafted by the California Angels during the 7th round of the 1988 draft. Edmonds is one of the top players in the National League in pitches seen per plate appearance. He has a very good power hitting to the opposite field and he was also able to accomplish a career on base percentage of .382 and a powerful slugging percentage of .539. Edmonds is also among the best defensive center fielders in the baseball history. In his career, he has played first base in stretches. He was able to hit 30 or more home runs in five challenging seasons while he maintained a .289 career batting average and has able to knock in over 1,000 runs all throughout his career.
Edmonds has received eight Gold Glove awards in his career at the center field. He had his best season on 2004 during the National League Championship Series where he hit an extra-inning home run to win Game 6. He is also among the 50 hitters who brandished a pink bat to benefit Breast Cancer Foundation during the Mother’s Day on May 14, 2006.
