Jerome Bettis has played for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was born on February 16, 1972 in Detroit Michigan.
Bettis was first drafted by the
Los Angeles Rams during the first round of the 1993 National Football League Draft as the team’s tenth overall pick. He showed great performance while he was still a rookie. Bettis was able to accomplish 1,429 yards in 1993 and was then hailed as the Offensive Rookie of the Year. He also rushed for over 1,000 during his second season with the Los Angeles Rams. It was in 2006 when he was traded to Pittsburgh. Bettis then became an integral part of the offense of Steelers. He suffered from injuries in 2002. Bettis made a comeback in 2004 and in the following year, he played as a full-time short yardage running back.
He was then named to the Pro Bowl six times in 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2001, and 2004. He successfully won the National Football League Comeback Player of the Year award in 1996. Bettis was also the recipient of the
Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. Bettis was able to play in the Super Bowl XL where his team won against the
Seattle Seahawks on February 5, 2006. In his 13 NFL seasons, he rushed for 13,662 yards and accomplished 91 touchdowns.
