Kent was highly regarded as one of the most promising offensive second baseman in the history of the Major League Baseball. Among the teams he had played with during his career were the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Mets, Cleveland Indians, San Francisco Giants, and the Houston Astros.
Kent had already attracted the attention of many baseball fanatics during his high school and college years. He attended the University of California, Berkeley wherein he was remembered for his great performances and wonderful skills being shown every game. He spent his high school life at the Edison High School in Huntingon Beach in California.
