Born in Santurce, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Javier Peterson Cardona is a catcher in the Major League Baseball. Drafted in 1993 as an amateur by the Detroit Tigers but did not sign up with the team. He signed up for the Detroit Tigers the following year but was traded after eight years with the team. Together with Rich Gomez in the minors, he was exchanged for
Matt Walbeck and
Damian Jackson to the San Diego Padres. After a few months he was released by the Padres and was granted free agency. He signed with the
Chicago Cubs as a free agent on the 3rd of March 2003. He was released by the Cubs after a month. On the 5th of April 2004, he signed for the New York Mets and was soon released few months after he signed up for the team. He has also played for the Colorado Rockies, St. Louis Cardinals and for the Cleveland Indians. After he was granted as a free agent on the 15th of October 2005, he signed up for the Boston Red Sox a year after.
