A starting pitcher of major League Baseball’s Seattle Mariners, Jason Matthew Vargas was born in Apple Valley, California. He was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in 2001 but made a decision to go with the Louisiana State University. But at the end of the 2001 season, he moved to Cypress College in time for the 2003 season so he will have a chance to be drafted. On his senior year, he transferred to Long Beach and was drafted by the Florida Marlins in 2004. He signed by Jered Weaver’s teammate, Robby Cosaro. He was then traded together with the team’s starting pitcher Adam Bostick to the New York Mets in 2006 for Henry Owens and Matt Lindstrom. On the 10th of December, he was then among the seven players to the Seattle Mariners.

 

From the start of his professional career as a baseball player through the 8th of April 2011, Jason Vargas has posted a win-loss record of 18-27; earned run average of 4.72 and total strikeouts of 265.
