Jason Blake was born in Moorhead, Minnesota on September 2, 1973. The two teams he had already played with during his career in the ice hockey league were the Islanders and the Los Angeles Kings. In January 2001, he transferred to the Islanders after some playing seasons with the Kings. The particular turning over was considered as one of the finest trades Mike Milbury, the Islanders’ General Manager at that time had made.
Blake was established as one of the most promising players in the history of ice hockey. Because of his great performances in every game, he was chosen to play at the Winter Olympics together with his teammates in the New York Islanders, Rick DiPietro and Mark Parrish. The said competition was held in Turin, Italy last February 2006.
Jason Blake was also elected as part of the All-Star team during the NHL season in 2006 and 2007. Among his many achievements were being voted as a member to the All-Rookie Team in 1994-95, First All-Star Team of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) in 1996-97 as well as on 1997-98, West First All-American Team of the National Collegiate Athletic Association in the year 2006-07. Blake was also named as the Player of the Year of the WCHA in 1998-99.
