Jason Bacashihua had his NHL start during the 2001 Entry Draft where he got picked by the Dallas Stars. He was able to stay for two seasons under the Utah Grizzlies, another team from Lake City, Utah. After which he was placed in exchange for Shawn Belle in the
St. Louis Blues. Among the teams he had played with before venturing to the main NHL debut, are the Worcester Ice Cats as well as the Peoria Rivermen.
In the 31st of July, 2009, Bacashihua agreed to a one-year contract for the 2009-2010 game seasons where he will play under the Hershey Bears. Later on then, he was seen with a very impressionable performance gaining 17 wins out of 22 season games. However, he was referred to a third choice goalie position and did not make it to the Calder Cup.
A year after the said season, Jason Bacashihua signed another contract which placed him back to the Colorado Avalanche organization, as a free agent.
