Jarrod Washburn is an American professional baseball player. He was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin and took his college education at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh where he also played college football. During his freshman season, Washburn won the championship game against Wesleyan University in the 1994 NCAA Division III World Series.
Washburn is 6 ft. 1 in. and 195 lbs. He both bat and throw using his left. He started his professional baseball career after he was drafted by the California Angels in the 1995 MLB Draft where he was a second round pick of the team. Before he could make his pro debut in the major leagues, Washburn began his career pitching for the Boise Hawks and Cedar Rapids Kernels of the minor leagues in 1995.
In 1996, he began pitching for High Single-A Lake Elsinore and then promoted in late season to Triple-A Vancouver. And on June 2, 1998, Washburn made his pro debut for the Angels. On December 2005, Washburn signed a four-year contract with the Seattle Mariners. An on July 2009, Washburn was dealt to the Detroit Tigers in exchange for Mauricio Robles and Luke French. He had his final game for the Detroit Tigers on September 15, 2009.
