James Patrick (full name: James Patrick; no nicknames) played defenseman from 1984 until 2004 for the New York Rangers, Hartford Whalers, Calgary Flames and Buffalo Sabres. He played for the Rangers from 1984 - 1994, Whalers in 1994, Flames from 1994 - 1998 and Sabres from 1999 - 2004. Over 21 seasons, he played 1280 games, scored 149 goals, and made 490 assists. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on June 14, 1963, Patrick stands 6-2 and weighs 202 lbs. He was drafted by the New York Rangers in the 1st round (9th overall) of the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. Patrick officially announced retirement on September 8, 2005.
