Jake Wade (full name: Jacob Fields Wade; Whistling Jake) played pitcher from 1936 until 1946 for the Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Browns, Chicago White Sox, Washington Senators and New York Yankees. He played for the Tigers from 1936 - 1938, Red Sox in 1939, Browns in 1939, White Sox from 1942 - 1944, Senators in 1946 and Yankees in 1946. Over 8 seasons, he started 71 games, won 27 games, struck out 291 batters, and had a 5.00 ERA. Born on April 1, 1912 in Morehead City, NC, Wade stood 6' 2" and weighed 175 lb.
