About Jake LaMotta Autographed Memorabilia & Collectibles
Known as “The Raging Bull” and “The Bronx Bull,” Jake LaMotta was actually born as Giacobe LaMotta on the 10th of July 1921. He is a renowned former Italian-American champion boxer in the division of world middleweight, popularly played in the movie Raging Bull by Robert De Niro.
He won against Marcel Cerdan of France in Detroit in 1949 world title, being able to get the belt from the former. Regarded as France’s best ever champion, Cerdan had his arm dislocated during the bout’s first round and gave up before the 10th round commenced. LaMotta was declared as a winner by 10 rounds knockout since the bell has already rung when Cerdan called quits. Although a rematch has been set, it did not come into action since on his way back to US, Cerdan’s plane crashed in Azores, with everyone killed. LaMotta met the challengers Laurent Duithille and Tiberio Mitri, both of whom were beat by LaMotta. His rival, Robinson, challenged him and their sixth fight was held on the 14th of February 1951.
This fight which became a version of the Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre left LaMotta a beaten man. But despite this, LaMotta is still considered as one of the remarkable boxers just like Joe Frazier and boxing champ, Manny Pacquiao. These three boxers now have their collectible items and memorabilia offered in a reliable site of sports memorabilia.
Similar with Joe Paterno, LaMotta’s name is also misspelled sometimes like Jacke LaMotta, Jaik LaMotta, Jack LaMotta, Jake Lamota, Jake Lammota, Jake LaMota and Jake Lamouta.
