He played for the Giants from 1996 - 1998, Indians from 1998 - 2001, Rockies in 2001, Tigers in 2002 and Reds from 2004 - 2005. Over 9 seasons, he played 409 games, hit 19 home runs, drove in 95 runs, and stole 4 bases. Born on January 28, 1973 in Oxnard, CA, Cruz stands 6' 0" and weighs 215 lb. He attended Channel Islands (Oxnard, CA) high school and was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 1st round (32nd pick) of the 1994 amateur draft.
