Jack Russell (full name: Jack Erwin Russell; no nicknames) played pitcher from 1931 until 1940 for the Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, Washington Senators, Detroit Tigers, Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals. He played for the Red Sox from 1931 - 1936, Indians in 1932, Senators from 1933 - 1936, Tigers in 1937, Cubs from 1938 - 1939 and Cardinals in 1940. Over 15 seasons, he started 182 games, won 85 games, struck out 418 batters, and had a 4.46 ERA. Born on October 24, 1905 in Paris, TX, Russell stood 6' 1" and weighed 178 lb. He attended Paris (Paris, TX) (All Transactions) high school. His debut was on May 5, 1926 and he played his final game on August 7, 1940.
