He was regarded as a top player in his high school class at the Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach. After his high school career, he went to University of California where he had his college basketball career. The university which is known as UNC-Chapel Hill is a public research university. UNC is one of the oldest public universities in the States.
He played for a couple of teams in NBA. The National Basketball association is the pre-eminent men’s professional basketball league in North America. NBA is one of the 4 major North American professional sports leagues which include MLB, NFL and NHL.
J.R. Reid was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets in the 1st round of NBA Draft in 1989. After the Hornets, he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs in 1993. Playing for 3 years, he was traded by the Sours to New York Knicks on February 12, 1996. Reid gave the best games that he will give playing in America but he also played in France during the 1996 and 1997 season. As his basketball career moving on, he signed a contract as a free agent by Charlotte Hornets on July 16, 1997 and finally waived by Cleveland on January 02, 2001. He decided to end his career playing in Europe like in Strasbourg, France and then Leon in Spain.
