About Ickey Woods Memorabilia & Collectibles
Elbert Woods is a former pro American football athlete. He was born in Fresno, California and took his college studies attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He is famously known as Ickey Woods because of his famous touchdown celebration, which is the Ickey Shuffle, after he would score a touchdown. Woods’ pro football career began after he was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals during the 1988 NFL Draft where he was a second round pick of the team.
During his rookie season, Woods rushed for a thousand and sixty six yards with fifteen touchdowns. And as the Bengals advanced to Super Bowl XXIII, Woods had 228 yards and three touchdowns in the playoffs. During the 1989 season, Woods had a knee injury during their second game of the season, with a victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The injury caused Woods to miss a year and a month in the NFL. By the time he returned, his starting position was replaced by Harold Green.
By the time Woods was back in the league, he was reinjured in 1991 preseason. After Woods’ injury-shortened football career, he made some appearance on the television series Thunderbox. And for a time period, Woods also sold Omaha Steaks also, as part of his sales pitch, doing the Ickey Shuffle.
