Ian White currently plays for the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League. He was born on June 4, 1984 in Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada. He started his pro career when he was drafted by the Swift Current Broncos of the Western Hockey League as 89th overall in the 5th round of the 1999 WHL Bantam Draft.
White showed great improvements while playing for Swift Current and drew the interest of NHL teams. The Toronto Maple Leafs drafted him 191st overall in the 6th round of the 2002 NHL Draft. In 2003 he played for team Canada in the 2003 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships and though they lost to team Russia, White was very useful as a defense man and in powerplays. He continued playing for the Maple Leafs until January 31, 2010 when he was traded to the Calgary Flames.
