Hy Vandenberg (full name: Harold Harris Vandenberg; no nicknames) played pitcher from 1935 until 1945 for the Boston Red Sox, New York Giants and Chicago Cubs. He played for the Red Sox in 1935, Giants from 1937 - 1940 and Cubs from 1944 - 1945. Over 7 seasons, he started 22 games, won 15 games, struck out 120 batters, and had a 4.32 ERA. Born on March 17, 1906 in Abilene, KS, Vandenberg stood 6' 4" and weighed 220 lb. He attended Washburn (Minneapolis, MN) (All Transactions) high school.
