Howie Pollet (full name: Howard Joseph Pollet; no nicknames) played pitcher from 1941 until 1956 for the St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox. He played for the Cardinals from 1941 - 1951, Pirates from 1951 - 1956, Cubs from 1953 - 1955 and White Sox in 1956. Over 14 seasons, he started 277 games, won 131 games, struck out 934 batters, and had a 3.51 ERA. Born on June 26, 1921 in New Orleans, LA, Pollet stood 6' 1" and weighed 175 lb. He attended Fortier (New Orleans, LA) high school. His debut was on August 20, 1941 and he played his final game on September 23, 1956.
