Hoot Evers (full name: Walter Arthur Evers; no nicknames) played outfielder from 1941 until 1956 for the Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, New York Giants, Baltimore Orioles and Cleveland Indians. He played for the Tigers from 1941 - 1954, Red Sox from 1952 - 1954, Giants in 1954, Orioles from 1955 - 1956 and Indians from 1955 - 1956. Over 12 seasons, he played 1142 games, hit 98 home runs, drove in 556 runs, and stole 45 bases. Born on February 8, 1921 in St. Louis, MO, Evers stood 6' 2" and weighed 180 lb. He attended Collinsville (Collinsville, IL) high school. His debut was on September 16, 1941 and he played his final game on September 30, 1956.
