Herschel Walker is a former American professional football player. He was born in Augusta, Georgia. Walker played as running back for numerous teams in the National Football League; the New Jersey Generals, Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants. Walker also played as running back for the New Jersey Generals of the United States Football League before joining the NFL.
Walker took his college education when he attended the University of Georgia where he also played as running back in college football. He was an All-American and winner of the 1982 Heisman Trophy during his college career. During his freshman season in 1980, Walker played a major role in helping Georgia go undefeated and win the National Championship with a victory in the Sugar Bowl against Notre Dame.
Walker started his pro career in the National Football League after he was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys during round five in the 1985 NFL Draft. Throughout his fifteen season career in the national league and the United States league combined, Walker has garnered numerous awards; he was 1985 USFL Most Valuable Player, two time USFL All-Star, 1987 Second-team All-Pro selection, 1988 First-team All-Pro selection and two-time Pro Bowl selection to name a few. Walker had his last game with the Cowboys in 1997 followed by his retirement.
