About Herm Edwards Memorabilia & Collectibles
Herman “Herm” Edwards is an American football analyst for ESPN. He was the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs until 2008, and of the New York Jets from 2001-2005. Edwards played nine NFL seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles from 1977 to 1986. He was then cut off by then-incoming head coach
Buddy Ryan and thus went to play briefly for the Los Angeles Rams and Atlanta Falcons in 1986 before announcing his retirement.
The highlight of his career was on November 19, 1978, during the final seconds of a game against the New York Giants at the Meadowlands. The Giants led 17-12 and the Eagles, led by quarterback
Ron Jaworski, had no time-outs left. The Giants quarterback Joe Pisarcik then attempted to hand the ball to running back
Larry Csonka but unfortunately, the ball came free, and Edwards picked it up and returned it for a touchdown, winning the Eagles by 19-17. This game eventually became known in Philadelphia as The Miracle at the Meadowlands and in New York as simply "The Fumble." From this event, a formation known as the "Herman Edwards play" was then designed.
