Hayden Penn is major league baseball player. Penn is currently in the Pittsburgh Pirates roster and is occupying the pitcher position. The right-handed player was born in Santee, California. Penn was part of the 2002 MLB draft and was selected by the Baltimore Orioles. Penn was selected during the fifth round of the draft.
Penn played in the minors before being able to move up to the MLB. He started out his professional career playing for the GCL Orioles of the Gulf Coast League and the Bluefield Orioles of the Appalachian League. During the 2004 season, Penn split time with the Delmarva Shorebirds, the Frederick Keys and the Bowie Baysox.
During the 2005 season, Penn was finally able to break into the MLB rosters of the Orioles. He was 20 years old and 7 months when he was called up to the majors and was the youngest player in the entire MLB. Penn suffered from appendicitis during the 2006 season but did rather well in the minors that he was called back to the Orioles roster.
In 2009, Penn was traded to the Florida Marlins in exchange for Robert Andino. Before the start of the 2010 season, Penn was claimed off the waivers by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
