Harvey Grant is a former professional basketball player born on July 4, 1965 in Augusta, Georgia. He was selected by the Washington Bullets during the National Basketball Association Draft in 1988. He started with an average of 5.6 points, 1.1 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game. The next season after being drafted, he was able to make an average of 8.2 points, 1.6 assists and 4.2 rebounds. In the 1990-1991 seasons, he showed improvement and his point average increased to 18.2 per game and made an average of 7.2 rebounds. Because of the boost in his statistics, he was given a runner-up award of the NBA Most Improved Player in 1991. He consistently scored much in the two following seasons.
Grant played for the Portland Trail Blazers in 1993 when he was traded in exchange for Kevin Duckworth. After three years, he went back to the Washington Bullets but had a not so good play in the next few seasons. The last team he played with before he went to retirement was the Philadelphia 76ers where he had an average of 3.1 points and played 47 out of 50 games. In his entire career, he finished with a record of 4.4 rebounds and 9.9 points per game.
His twin brother, Horace Grant is also a former NBA player. Reviews say Harvey was not as good as Horace in terms of rebounds.

He was drafted by the Washington Bullets in the 1st round (12th pick, 12th overall) of the 1988 NBA draft.
