Harvey Garcia is a professional baseball player. In 2000, he was signed by the Florida Marlins as an amateur free agent. He played in the Dominican League for awhile as a pitcher. Garcia was released in 2002 by the Marlins. He subsequently signed with the Boston Red Sox. He was traded back to the Marlins in 2005 in exchange for the Josh Beckett.
Garcia was able to make his major league debut in September 2, 2007. His first game was against the Washington Nationals. As a relief pitcher, Garcia was able to pitch in a total of eight games during that month. He was able to post a .438 ERA.
After suffering injuries in 2008, Garcia had to miss out on that season. During the 2009 Spring Training, Garcia was released by the Marlins. He decided to sign a minor league contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was able to play for the Lynchburg Hillcats, the Pirates Class- A affiliate team, for ten games. Garcia was later traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He played in the Southern League for the Chattanooga Lookouts. He was released by the Dodgers in May of 2010. Garcia’s current status is as a free agent.
